Benjamin Balint is a writer, journalist, and translator. He has taught literature at Dartmouth College, the University of Freiburg, and Bard College in East Jerusalem. He has contributed to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Jewish Review of Books, Die Zeit, and Haaretz. His 2018 book, Kafka’s Last Trial, which explores Franz Kafka’s literary legacy, has been translated into more than twelve languages and won the 2020 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature. His most recent work, Bruno Schulz: An Artist, a Murder, and the Hijacking of History (2023), won the National Jewish Book Award for Biography and was named a New York Times Editors’ Choice.
